Paper lanternsShanghai: In Focus
Shanghai’s municipal development over the past two decades has been an inspiration for the rest of China. The pace of internationalization and economic growth continues to astound observers.

Shanghai Executive Management Program
To assist with the Shanghai government's interest in enhancing training programs for its officials, the Ash Center launched the Shanghai Executive Management Program in 2009. This program aims to provide senior Chinese officials in Shanghai municipal government agencies with perspectives on strategy, leadership, management of service delivery, urban planning and development, crisis management, and social policy, as practiced in the United States and other countries.

Each annual class of 25 Shanghai municipal officials attends two weeks of intensive, public policy classes at the Kennedy School. During the concluding third week of the program, officials visit other cities to gain a better understanding of our local, state, and federal government organizations and processes.
