Vietnam, Hạ Long Bay, 1994

The extraordinary physical beauty of Hạ Long Bay  (Bay of the Descending Dragon) is today a major draw for tourist. On August 5, 1964, at Washington D.C. Pres. Lydon Johnson presented the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution to the U.S. Congress to grant him power to make war in Vietnam. On the same day at Hạ Long Bay, the North Vietnamese Navy shot down the first two U.S. aircrafts. They also captured Everett Alvarez, the first American pilot to being taken captive in the war when his Navy plane was shot down.
