Building Community

The Global Vietnam Wars Studies Initiative’s oral history collection and digital archive is intended to attract scholars and foster exciting new research, teaching, and learning. The Initiative will work with Harvard-Yenching Institute, Harvard Asia Center, and others on a range of activities across the University to develop a fuller understanding of the impact of Vietnam Wars from multiple disciplines and global perspectives. These activities, which will be built upon the digital collections, will inform scholars, practitioners, and students who look to history as a basis for more effective and conscientious policymaking.

Activities in pursuit of community building and exchange will include support for visiting scholars and students from Vietnam and beyond -- including post-doctoral fellows and PhD candidates who are engaging in original research in the field. The Initiative will support Harvard faculty and visiting scholars engaged in relevant work for travel, research funds and assistance, internship, and the convening of workshops and conferences.
