Virtual Archive

Working in collaboration with institutions across Harvard University, including the Harvard-Yenching Library, the largest university library for East Asian research outside of Asia, the Global Vietnam Wars Studies Initiative will build an electronic archive, freely available to the public. Each oral history interview and written document will be transcribed into written Vietnamese or other native languages, with many of them ultimately translated into English.

The Global Vietnam Wars Studies Initiative will ensure that the oral histories collection will be accessible as primary source materials available for scholars, students, and others to produce dissertations, books, documentary films, language, and translation training. The digital infrastructure and open-access resources will enable new scholarship while fostering cultural and intellectual exchange between the U.S. and nations of Southeast Asia and East Asia.
