Bay Area Development and Innovation Research Project

The Ash Center has partnered with the Professional Committee on Strategic Thinking and Leadership in the Chinese Association of Development Strategy Studies to launch a new research project aimed at understanding the factors that contribute to the development of bay areas globally, their governance and innovation in public service provision, education and smart city design.

The project will study the historical experience of the development of Shenzen Bay area; carry out comparative studies of different bay area development models including the Massachusetts Bay area; and strengthen the research base in the field of bay area development among China, the United States and relevant global bay areas. As part of this research collaboration, the Ash Center will be convening a number of Global Bay Area Forums to bring together scholars and practitioners from various Bay Area regions to discuss issues related to regional development and public sector innovation.
