Join Demos President Heather McGhee for a conversation.

Background on Heather McGhee & Demos

Heather McGhee became President of Demos in March of 2014, after working with the organization for eight years.  Since becoming President of Demos, Heather has become one of the leading voices in the national and media conversation about race, voting rights, campaign finance, and the future of American Democracy.  Two of her recent engagements are linked below.  The first is the Upworthy video of an exchange on C-SPAN with Gary Civitello, a North Carolina man who called in and said he was prejudiced, and asked Heather to help him be a better person.  Her response, and their exchange, has been viewed over 8 million times.  Secondly, Heather testified last week at the Senate Judiciary hearing on Judge Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

Demos is a public policy  organization located in New York which, since its founding in 2000,  has been a leader on issues in support of ‘an economy where everyone has an equal chance and a democracy where everyone has an equal say’.  Demos develops and advocates for substantive policies in the short term, working closely with advocates, organizers, and policymakers, and also looks over the horizon at the major and structural issues facing us as a country and as a democracy.  The conversation with Heather will be an opportunity to engage with her on some of these crucial issues.
