At this Ash center-sponsored seminar, Mr. CHEN Yuan will offer remarks about the role of development financial institutions in economic and social development. Ash Center Executive Director Julian Chang will moderate a Question and Answer session at the conclusion of the event.

Mr. CHEN Yuan is the chairman of the Board of Directors of the China Development Bank Corporation, which is one of the leading long-term financing institutions in the world.

Mr. CHEN Yuan sits on the ICC Executive Board and a number of advisory boards, including the BIS Institute for Financial Stability Advisory Board, ING Group Advisory Council, and the AIG Group Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, the honorary dean of the Economic School of the Peking University, a concurrent professor of Tsinghua University and the People’s University of China and a Ph.D. candidate supervisor of the Graduate School of the People’s Bank of China.

From 1998 to 2008, Mr. CHEN Yuan was the governor of the China Development Bank. From 1988 to 1998, he was the vice governor of the People’s Bank of China, the central bank of China.
