Study Group: Elections 2018 Through the Practitioner’s Lens

Wednesday, October 24, 2018, 4:30pm to 6:00pm

Ash Center, 124 Mount Auburn St., Floor 2, Room 226

Join Miles Rapoport, Senior Practice Fellow in American Democracy, for the fourth session of a study group titled, "Elections 2018 Through the Practitioner’s Lens."

Elections 2018 Through the Practitioner’s Lens

The 2018 elections will not just be a question of who wins and who loses; they will be a stress test of America’s democratic processes. Issues of election safety, voting access, the new wild west of campaign finance and redistricting will have major impact for the future. This Study Group will feature experienced practitioners-- people and organizations fighting for secure, inclusive, and fair elections-- who will share their perspectives and their work.

Session Four- Journalism, Uncomfortable:  Covering the 2018 Elections

This is a special, added, Wednesday session will focus on the unusual and uncomfortable role of the press in the 2018 elections.  Our guest will be Peter Applebome, who has had a long career at the New York Times, as a reporter, columnist, Atlanta Bureau chief, and, most recently, as Deputy National Editor.
