Baoshang Delegation Visits Ash Center

A delegation headed by the Chairman of the Baoshang Bank visited the Ash Center on December 4, 2015. Baoshang Bank Limited is a joint-equity commercial bank based in Baotou in China's Inner-Mongolia province, and a major provider of microfinance services. The delegation included Li Zhenxi, Chairman, Baoshang Bank; Fan Zhihua, General Manager, Baoshang Bank, Beijing Branch; and Li Siyu, Business Development Associate, CP Global Capital.  Chairman Li is a senior visitor with the Ash Center and he has been the chairman of the board at the Baoshang Bank since 2008. He received his D.B.A. from Huazhong University of Technology in 2007. The goal of the visit was to understand the activities of the Ash Center and to engage in dialogue relating to finance policy, globalization of capital, and banking reform in the US.

The delegation was welcomed by Ash Center staff and briefed on the various programming that takes place within the Rajawali Foundation Institute for Asia, followed by walking tours to Harvard Kennedy School main campus, Widener Library, and Harvard Yard. The delegation then met with Ash Center senior fellows Jeffrey Williams (formerly the Executive Director of Harvard Shanghai Center), WANG Jinzhao (Senior Research Fellow, Development Research Center, PRC State Council), SHAO Ting (Deputy Director, DRC, PRC State Council), and YANG Zhijun (Deputy CEO, Shuanghui Group), for a lunch discussion on issues related to globalization of financial firms, microfinancing, banking regulations, and government-business relations in China.
