Political participation, gender and politics, inequalities & political exclusions
Edana Beauvais is a SSHRC Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for the Study of Democratic Citizenship (CSDC) at McGill University. She holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia. Dr. Beauvais’s research centers how inequalities of political participation contribute to harms of oppression and domination, with a focus on gender and race. Beauvais also considers how to design institutions to promote full democratic inclusion. Her academic publications appear in Political Research Quarterly, Politics and Gender, and the European Journal of Political Research, among other outlets. During her time at the Ash Center, Dr. Beauvais will be working on her project “Intersectional Empowerments” which considers when intersections of racial and gender identities mobilize women’s political engagement.
