Journalism & activism in the digital age
Ramya Raghavan currently leads civics and news outreach at Google. She is responsible for communications about the Google News Initiative, Google’s umbrella effort to help journalism thrive in the digital age, as well as driving Google’s commitment to media literacy efforts globally. Additionally, she oversees the company’s outreach and training program for political entities, as well as efforts that help people engage with elections around the world through Google products.
Ramya has has spent over 15 years working at the intersection of technology and democracy. In previous years, she led political and nonprofit outreach at YouTube and served as head of brand marketing for Google in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining Google, Ramya worked on digital campaigns and communications at the Center for American Progress. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and currently serves on the board of National Voter Registration Day.
