Simon Beste

Simon Beste studied Political Science, History, Global Political Economy and Constitutional Law at the University of Kassel, Germany and Rutgers University, USA. He is a PhD candidate of André Bächtiger and works at the Zurich-based NCCR project "Deliberation, Legitimacy and Epistemic Quality in Multilevel Governance Systems" at the faculty of Political Science, University of Lucerne. His dissertation project aims to shed light on the question of how to measure and evaluate deliberative quality at the systemic level. His main methodological interests are in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and involve the development of an automatized Discourse Quality Index (DQI), supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms, topic modeling and frame extraction.
