Simon O’Rourke, Ph.D., is Superintendent, with the Australian Border Force. Previously, he was a police inspector assigned to the Counter Terrorism and Emergency Response Command at the Western Australia Police Force. He was awarded a Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholarship in 2017 and spent the 2017/18 academic year as a resident fellow with the Program on Crisis Leadership (PCL) at Harvard Kennedy School. Since June 2018 he has served as a PCL Senior Fellow. His research has focused on the way in which law enforcement agencies prepare for and respond to major incidents, with a particular focus on command of such events.
