Democracy Summer Fellowship

Ash Center Democracy Summer Fellowships are aimed to inspire and prepare Harvard Kennedy School students and others for public service careers by embedding them within government agencies and non-governmental organizations that are working to promote innovative practices in democracy and democratic governance. We are pleased to offer HKS students the opportunity to spend the summer exploring the field of democracy with a diverse set of host agencies.

Summer fellows will receive a stipend of $8000 to cover travel, living, and other expenses.

We welcome applications from current HKS and joint degree students. Students graduating in 2022 are eligible.

The Ash Center is a vibrant and values-driven community. We are committed to diversity and welcome people of varied backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and disciplines. We actively seek applications from people of color, women, the LGBTQIA+ community, military veterans, persons with disabilities and underrepresented backgrounds.

Please note that we are hopeful that unless otherwise listed, these fellowships will be conducted in person. We will follow all University and host agency travel guidance and a final decision will be made closer to the start of the fellowship.

Applications for summer 2022 are now closed.
