In this webinar, Professors Erica Chenoweth and Steven Levitsky will discuss what can be learned from mobilization and opposition to autocracy in the United States based on historical examples, and will offer their assessments of where the U.S. stands today.

Speakers include:

  • Erica Chenoweth, Frank Stanton Professor of the First Amendment at Harvard Kennedy School
  • Steven Levitsky, David Rockefeller Professor of Latin American Studies and Professor of Government at Harvard University

About the Series

This event is part of the Ash Center’s “Understanding Disruption” webinar series. These conversations will focus on domains — such as higher education, media, and civil society — to gain insight into the character of these disruptions, what the disruptors are hoping to achieve, what opponents are concerned about, and what the consequences of these disruptions will be.
