The Ash Center affirms an ongoing responsibility to advance the self-determination, self-governance, and flourishing of Indigenous nations. For nearly four decades, the Project on Indigenous Governance and Development has worked alongside Indigenous nations to strengthen governance and nation-building. This partnership is central to the Ash Center’s work: developing ideas and fostering practices that support equal and inclusive, multiracial and multiethnic democracy and self-government.

The Ash Center acknowledges the land on which Harvard University sits is the traditional territory of the Massachusett people. We also recognize the continuing presence of the neighboring Wampanoag and Nipmuc nations.
