Democracy and the Informed Public

Farwa Akbari is a Master of Public Health candidate at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, concentrating in Health and Social Behavior Change and Humanitarian Studies. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of Michigan in 2023, which laid the foundation for her academic and professional work in both global and domestic public health research. This includes her role as a Data Analyst at RTI International on the USAID Act to End Neglected Tropical Diseases East program, where she supported data-driven strategies to reduce global infectious disease transmission. Farwa’s research interests lie at the intersection of politics, governance, and health systems, with a focus on how these forces shape population health outcomes. She brings to the Ash Center’s Informed Public Project a data-driven, analytically grounded perspective informed by a strong focus on social determinants of health and the role of institutions in shaping public trust and access to information.
