Josh Cortez

Josh Cortez most recently comes from the US Congress where he worked as a Senior Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff. In Washington, DC he helped direct the legislative agenda, vetted and managed staff, managed planning, and spearheaded the achievement of strategic goals. He was also responsible for key congressional office, constituent, and key stakeholder relations.
Before Congress, Cortez was a professor teaching Technology and Entrepreneurship for the University of North Texas at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Cortez was an appointee to the Baylor University Alumni Advisory Board, where he chaired the Alumni Engagement committee. Additionally, he is an honoree of the Baylor University Magazine recognized as a Top 4 graduating senior and was a Co-Chair of the Bearathon, raising money for underprivileged students. He has also previously served on the board of the Salvation Army DFW and as a President of Echelon DFW. In addition, Cortez has been involved in other local, state and national organizations, including Young Life, Leadership Austin and the Young Men’s Business League.
Josh is an MPA candidate at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of government where he is a Research Assistant in the Bloomberg Center along with being a professor’s assistant in the Management class “Getting Things Done: Management and Implementation for Development”.
Cortez received a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and recently earned his Master of Business Administration from the Darden School at the University of Virginia.
