Yen-Lin (mashbean) Huang is a former medical doctor turned digital practitioner, dedicated to weaving cypherpunk ethos with democratic governance in Taiwan’s evolving digital society. Fascinated by the deep structures of the internet and social networks, he left clinical practice to focus on decentralized technologies and digital autonomy.

From 2023 to 2025, he served at Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs, where he led the development of digital public infrastructure, including decentralized identity systems, and open internet standards. He was also involved with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and previously served as a Youth Advisory Committee member to the Executive Yuan of Taiwan.

Yen-Lin is a member of the Silviculture Society, an advisory body of the Ethereum Foundation, offering insights on the social implications of blockchain technologies. He also participates in internet governance initiatives such as the Asia Pacific School on Internet Governance (APSIG) and the Taiwan School on Internet Governance (TWSIG), with a focus on developing governance frameworks for emerging technologies.

In 2022, he founded Formosal Art Bank Decentralized Autonomous Organization (FAB DAO), a Web3 civic tech community in Taiwan that supports nonprofit initiatives through blockchain-based tools. His work with FAB DAO was featured at the 2022 Ars Electronica Festival. He also writes as a columnist on digital art and participatory aesthetics, and contributes as an independent translator exploring digital resistance and networked culture.
