Democracy and the Informed Public

Hable Fitsum is a junior at Harvard College studying Government with a secondary in Economics, originally from Baltimore, Maryland. She is a Research Assistant with the Ash Center’s Information in the Workplace project, where she supports research on how workers access and use information about pay, workplace risks, and legal protections. Her interest in this work comes from her experience in the Employment Law Unit at Greater Boston Legal Services, where she assisted with employment cases, worked directly with clients, and advocated for Paid Family and Medical Leave legislation at the Massachusetts State House. She has also conducted policy and social justice research through organizations such as TurnUp Activism, translating complex legal and policy information into accessible materials. More broadly, she is interested in how access to information shapes people’s ability to navigate institutions and exercise their rights.
