Christina Marchand

Senior Associate Director, Center-wide Democracy Initiatives

Christina Marchand is Senior Associate Director for Democracy Initiatives at the Ash Center. Marchand is responsible for cultivating an intellectual community of faculty, visiting fellows and scholars, and students committed to tackling democracy’s greatest challenges. In this role, she oversees faculty workshops and initiatives, as well as the Center’s Democracy Fellows and student programs. Marchand previously served as Senior Associate Director for Innovations, where she oversaw a portfolio of projects related to building innovation and capacity in the public sector at the state and local level. Prior to this, she held the position of Associate Director of the Innovations in American Government Program, a prestigious program devoted to recognizing and promoting excellence and creativity in the public sector. In this role, Marchand oversaw all elements of the Innovations Awards, including recruiting, selecting, and winner grant administration, including providing dissemination strategies for winning programs in order to encourage the replication of award-winning government programs throughout the United States and beyond. Marchand provided strategic management of the Government Innovators Network, an online marketplace of ideas and examples of government innovations for policymakers and practitioners around the world. She holds her bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire and her master’s degree from King’s College London. She serves as a clerk for the election department in the city of Boston, Massachusetts, and has served on the board of her local civic association and several citizens committees.
