Drake Rushford is a fifth-year PhD student in economics at the University of Arizona. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Manitoba and earned a Master’s degree in economics from the University of Victoria. His research focuses on Indigenous governance, state capacity, and public service provision, with particular emphasis on policing institutions and the historical implementation of treaty obligations in Canada. His work combines administrative data, historical records, and quasi-experimental methods to study how institutional design and capacity constraints shape economic and social outcomes in Indigenous communities.
