Yao Li is a China Public Policy Postdoctoral Fellow at the Ash Center, Harvard Kennedy School. She earned her Ph.D. in Sociology at Johns Hopkins University and was a Lecturer in the Center for East Asian Studies at the University of Kansas. Dr. Li's first book manuscript, currently under review at Cambridge University Press, analyzes the political outcomes of popular contention. Dr. Li's second book project focuses on environmental activism in China. Her research interests include political contention, authoritarian politics, development, and social inequality.
