Kate Knight
Research Associate to Samantha Power
Kate Knight is the Research Associate supporting Samantha Power, Harvard Kennedy School’s Anna Lindh Professor of the Practice of Global Leadership and Harvard Law School’s William Zabel Professor of Human Rights Policy. Prior to joining the teams at HKS and HLS, Kate worked as a Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Agency for International Development, where she helped coordinate humanitarian response efforts across Syria, Sudan, Southern Africa, and the greater Middle East region. Before that, she served as a Women’s Protection and Empowerment Specialist with the International Rescue Committee in Jordan, building on her earlier work in the country as a Fulbright Scholar.
She also worked as a Refugee Resettlement Coordinator with Catholic Charities of Central Florida and has held research positions with the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, Columbia University’s Human Rights and Humanitarian Policy program, and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Lebanon.
She received her BA in International Relations and Middle East Studies from Rollins College and her MA in Humanitarian Policy and Middle East Studies from Columbia University. In her free time, Kate enjoys hiking, attending weekly trivia nights, and spending time with her husband and two cats.
