Prior to arriving at Harvard, Colin Buckley spent several years as a Presidential Management Fellow and a Democracy Specialist for the U.S. Agency for International Development.  There he worked on issues of governance, rule of law, and worker rights around the world, including the Summit for Democracy.  Before joining USAID, Colin worked for the Service Employees International Union, first during the “Justice for Janitors” movement that won better wages and health insurance for Boston area janitors, and later as a political organizer during the Presidential elections of 2004 and 2008.   Between stints with SEIU, Colin attended Georgetown University to study political strategy and interned on Capitol Hill with the office of the “Liberal Lion,” Senator Edward Kennedy.  Colin and his wife Gabriela are expecting their first child this Fall and are honored to be a part of the Ash Center family.
