Cities RISE Initiative

“Cities for Responsible Investment and Strategic Enforcement (“Cities RISE”) has now invested more than $11 million to advance neighborhood revitalization and tackle blighted, vacant, or poorly maintained properties. Phase Two provides further resources and training to empower communities to address housing challenges. Awardees can also apply for Innovation Grants of up to $1 Million to launch new programs to improve code enforcement.”
Please see the New York State Office of Attorney General press release for more information.
The civic innovation will take the data and lessons from phase one of Cities RISE and utilize this information to allow the municipalities to try new ideas on how to address blighted properties, negligent landlords and other concerns around code enforcement.
Cities RISE Phase Two awardees include the cities of Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, White Plains, Elmira, Mount Vernon, Newburgh, Niagara Falls, Rochester, and Syracuse.
