Gerrit von Zedlitz-Neukirch

I am a fifth-year PhD candidate in Accounting at the University of Mannheim, Germany. During the 2025-2026 academic year, I was a visiting researcher at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. I primarily conduct field-based research, with a particular focus on field experiments.

My research focuses on the use of transparency in organizations and markets, with a particular emphasis on consumers, employees, and other non-traditional stakeholders. Across my research projects, I examine the extent to which transparency can serve as an instrument to improve accountability and influence the behavior of economic actors. I am particularly interested in the diverse ways transparency is applied, including its different forms, the frictions it addresses, and the stakeholder groups it targets. My research aims to improve our understanding of when, how, and in what form transparency is an effective instrument.
