Jose Martinez
Program Administrator, Center-wide Democracy Initiatives
Program Involvement
Jose Martinez is the Democratic Governance Program Administrator. He joined the Ash Center from the technology sector, having performed technical support and customer care for a growing company in Boston for several years. Working in academia has been a long-term aspiration for Jose; the Ash Center perfectly complements his love of education and his passion for politics, which was honed through his positions as Vice President of the undergraduate student government at UMass Boston and through his internship at the State House during the tenure of former Governor Deval Patrick. When Jose isn’t participating in Ash Center programs, providing support for special events, or inculcating the atmosphere of the office with his infectious enthusiasm, he can be found at home, enjoying the company of his family.
Jose holds an Associate of Science in Marketing from North Shore Community College and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UMass Boston, where he received the Foster Furcolo full academic scholarship and the Michael Dukakis Public Service Award. While at Harvard, he has also completed HKS’s Public Leadership Credential (PLC) and a master’s degree in government at Harvard Extension School.
